Van Insurance Speeding
More speed trap misery for van drivers in Scotland which could herald the end of cheap van insurance. The reason for this is the installation of the UK's longest speed trap - over 28 miles of the A77 between Kilmanock & Girvan. SPECS cameras will record the speed of all users on this section of road . Anyone caught speeding will automatically get a fine & 3 points - hardly conducive to getting cheap van insurance. There is a serious issue here though - road safety. On this stretch of road there have been 300 casualties with 15 fatalities and 78 serious injuries in just over 5 years.
These new SPECS cameras as well as the new laser speed guns can record speeds from over a mile away and mean the end to speeding with impunity. Any truck or van drivers who want insurance cheaply had better take note - particularly now that the 10% error rule is under threat.
