Vans are used in most countries around the world for commercial purposes but in some countries these vans double up as the owners leisure vehicle, reducing running costs and vehicle insurance out goings. With this in mind why do most van users in the uk use their vans for work and switch to a car for out of work activities. This series of articles will look at some things that are not offered, in a large enough capacity in the UK but encourages owners in other countries to invest in CV's as work and leisure multi purpose vehicles.
Styling
The Majority of vans on the UK market are designed to be practical and therefore often miss out on the attractiveness of other vehicles on the road. Some manufacturers would argue that you can't have attractive styling and a practical commercial vehicle. Other manufacturers would argue that their vans do look stylish, this statement could be true as the look of a van has a lot to do with personal preference. If this statement is true then why are very few of us using a commercial vehicle as our sole mode of transport and of those that are I'm willing to bet that half of them don't drive their works vehicle out of choice.
Maybe the fact that commercial vehicle owners in countries such as Australia and America have a large range of choice for the styling of their vans is the reason that they own one multi purpose vehicle. Trucks such as the Ford harley davidson range have a unique styling that has encouraged many different people from all walks of life to buy them. The Ford Harley Davidson models are owned by people such as premiership footballers, how many premiership footballers can you name that own a ford transit van?
Because of the fact that dealers in countries such as Australia and America can offer the consumer attractive body styling means that commercial vehicle owners in these countries benefit hugely. With many after market parts available such as body kits, spoilers and stylish alloy wheels it eliminates the need to own two vehicles. The consumers in the foreign market can cut their motoring costs in half because their works vehicles double up as their leisure transport. This means that their van insurance is the sole vehicle insurance they have to pay, by eliminating the need for car insurance they can save thousands. Road Tax can also be cut in half along with the running cost associated with the use of two vehicles.
If the selection of commercial and leisure multi purpose vehicles available in other countries were introduced into the UK then we to could see our overall motoring costs plummet. The manufacturers could also see an increase in sales to consumers buying these vehicles solely for pleasure purposes. The second article in this series will look at why foreign consumers often choose these multi purpose vehicles with respect to performance.
