We were one of the first brokers to offer online insurance and as such we have some of the industry experts working for us. We've also been trading for years as a telephone broker so you know that we're here to stay.

Van Of The Future

New technological advances have revolutionised the motoring industry over the past few years and are set to mould the future for the motoring community. With this in mind what does the future hold for commercial vehicle motorists? What will the van of the future shape up like?

Sat Nav - Satellite navigation equipment is quickly becoming a necessity for the motoring community. The van of the future could see an inter-grated dash board screen that will house all the speed dials and give the driver an easily viewable Sat Nav system.

GPS tracker - Vans could be fitted with GPS tracking systems that will allow haulier companies to view the exact location of their vehicles at any time of the day. This will mean that haulier companies will be able to keep a closer eye on their drivers.

Video - Video camera technology has been used for years in some parts of the world to aid van and truck drivers. This could also be a standard fitting of the future as it allow the vehicle to see what is happening all around the truck, even parts of the truck that would be otherwise impossible to see. This technology could also be adapted to include a night vision setting which will allow views all around the truck even in the dark of night.

On-board computer - On board computers could also be utilised in order for hauler companies not only to track where their vehicles are at anyone time but also see how the van is being driven. They could record speed and distance for instant viewing via computer and could also tell if the driver has adhered to other rules of the road.

Driver stats - The biggest technological advantage could see a system that will measure a driver's vital statistics. This could let a driver know when their fatigue is at a level where they should take a break. This will be especially useful for long haul drivers that often push themselves to the limit and endangering other motorists.

Some of this technology is already used around the world but the sooner it is made readily available the safer our roads could be. With the introduction of advances to aid the van driver we could see a reduction in accidents involving commercial vehicles. This could all lead to a healthy reduction in the cost of van insurance due to fewer CV insurance claims being made each year.
