We were one of the first brokers to offer online insurance and as such we have some of the industry experts working for us. We've also been trading for years as a telephone broker so you know that we're here to stay.
We're sure that it will come as no surprise to you that vans that carry tools are often targeted by thieves, we'd like to talk a little bit about what you can do to prevent this from happening to your vehicle.
The first line of defense is to make sure that your vehicle is locked at ALL times. There's no point moaning about stuff getting nicked if you left your door open while you nipped in to get something from the shop. Make sure that you never leave windows a little bit open either because the more avenues of approach you give them the more likely they'll be to have a go.
We realise that it's not always possible to park your van outside the premises but if possible avoid quiet backstreets and dark alleys. These are the favourite places for thieves to break into your vehicle because the chances of them being discovered is very low.
It can be useful to have one of those stickers that say "No tools are kept in this vehicle overnight". However, many thieves don't believe you and will break in anyway which is where the next step comes into play.
If you've put a sticker on your vehicle make sure that you abide by what it says. If a thief breaks into a van and there aren't any tools in there then they probably won't ever try your vehicle again. However if they do find some tools you might find they'll pay you another visit in a month or two once you've had time to replace them.
It's unfortunate that we have to go to these lengths but it's a part of society and we all need to be vigilant or risk having our livelihoods disrupted. None of these steps take long and could very well save you from a great deal of inconvenience and lost revenue.
