We were one of the first brokers to offer online insurance and as such we have some of the industry experts working for us. We've also been trading for years as a telephone broker so you know that we're here to stay.
A recent survey has prompted many businesses to take more precautions with the contents of their vans. The research shows that 17% of small business had claimed for vehicle theft and that over half of these claims were in the last 24 months. 42% of claimants said that their van had been stolen and the same proportion said that the contents of their van had been stolen; if these figures are correct van theft could cost the economy £1 billion.
The problem is worse in some regions than others and this reflects the differing regional cost for van insurance; 31% of businesses made a claim in the West Midlands but only 25% of those in London. It also varies from one industry to the next - construction was the worst affected with 27% claiming on their van policies.
The van market is growing with 322,000 new vans a year appearing on British roads. Simple precautions could help - 16% of small business drivers left their tools in their vans overnight & 21% did not insure the contents of their vans. This may lead to a rise in premiums for small businesses and the best advice for businesses is to go to a broker like www.vancover.co.uk.
