"Manufacturing will continue in Birmingham" he hollers, as part-time farmers near to some defunct Lada factory in the Russian back of beyond rummage through boxes half- full of lawnmower parts and bicycle clips, gearing up to produce a few red vans for the British Postal Service. "While discussions regarding the acquisition of LDV are ongoing, I would like to make it clear that if agreement is reached, we will not 'lift and shift' the operation" added Erik whilst crossing every possible limb and attempting not to blink too readily.

The light-commercial producer who have been back at the forefront of light-commercial development in Birmingham since the American company poured in some £25 million, cutting debt and helping to generate the right platform required to push out 200 vehicles per week; were struggling prior to the timely investment in 2005, primarily having their position weakened by the high development costs of the Maxus, its first new vehicle since the collapse of its former guise - Leyland Daf - back in 1993. so, the LDV workforce in this country wait to see if they'll still get to turn out for their team in the immediate future, as many under-achieving league football teams the length and breadth of the country wait to see if they'll be contesting the LDV vans trophy next season.
